No loose threads with the best tailors in London

They say clothes make the person, but let’s be honest—a good tailor makes the clothes. And in a city like London—home to Savile Row—we don’t settle for ‘good enough.’

Yet, we know the struggle of finding something that fits just right, whether it’s a suit that needs a sharper silhouette or a pair of trousers that should sit just so.

That’s where London’s best tailors come in. Whether you need a bespoke masterpiece or a simple fix to rescue your favourite outfit, we’ve found the tailors who can make it happen.

How much do tailors charge in London?

How we chose

  • Customisation and services offered – We prioritised tailors who offer bespoke and made-to-measure services and alterations, ensuring a range of options for different needs.
  • Turnaround time and reliability – We assessed how long tailors take to complete orders and whether they deliver on time without compromising on quality.
  • Customer service – We tested how well tailors communicate with clients and how they make sure customers leave satisfied with their fit.
  • Customer reviews – We analysed real customer reviews across multiple platforms to confirm consistent positive feedback on fit, service, and overall experience.

We’ve been to plenty of tailors, but Redwood & Feller feels like a throwback to when craftsmanship actually mattered.

Tucked in Pimlico since 1946, this family-run shop is all about precision. Edward Rowland took over in 1974 and was later joined by his son Elliott. Together, they’ve built a reputation that’s not just respected but worn, even by the Royal Household.

Watching their team in action, every step feels deliberate. Patterns are drafted by hand, factoring in posture and how fabric drapes. Measurements aren’t just numbers; they shape the entire construction of the suit.

However, that level of craftsmanship comes at a cost, with fully bespoke suits starting at £2,500. For those expecting Savile Row tailoring without the price tag, it’s a steep ask.

We also love that their aftercare is taken just as seriously. The team understands that a work suit isn’t just about looking good – it has to handle long days, meetings, and whatever weather London decides to throw at it.

Pros

  • Top craftsmanship
  • Family-run shop since 1946
  • Worn by the Royal Household
  • Exceptional aftercare

Cons

  • Premium pricing

Rescues last-minute wedding dress emergencies

“I cannot recommend Fatima highly enough. After the seamstress altering my wedding dress dropped out two weeks before my dress needed to be finished (having done none of the alterations), I came to Fatima in an emergency and she worked tirelessly to make it all happen. From creating a whole new underskirt and adding cups to spotting that the dress was four inches too long (!), fixing it and adding a bustle, I could not have asked for better service or more dedication and I can honestly say I wouldn’t have been able to wear my wedding dress without her. Even in an extreme rush, the quality of her work was exceptional and she really went above and beyond for me. I would recommend her in a heartbeat and wouldn’t want to use any other seamstress. I’d also like to thank Elliott for not only making my husband’s suit, but for recommending Fatima when I was in a real pinch and for helping to make the connection. Five stars all round!”

Offers a first-class bespoke tailoring experience

At short notice I contacted Redwood & Feller enquiring about alterations to my sports club jacket. I was very impressed with the professionalism and quality of the workmanship undertaken by Elliott Rowland who went out of his way to complete the alterations in a speedy manner and personally delivered the jacket to my home address. I can highly recommend Redwood & Feller as a bespoke Taylor offering a first class quality service.

We’ve seen plenty of tailors claim to blend tradition with technology, but Tailor Made London actually pulls it off.

Walking in, we didn’t just get the usual tape-measure treatment – they brought out a 3D body scanner, pairing it with master-fitting garments to capture every tiny detail.

It’s honestly a process that feels part sci-fi, part Savile Row. It maps out posture, stance, and all the little quirks that affect how a suit fits.

Their suits are put together in an Italian atelier using full floating canvas construction, which we know makes a real difference.

What really surprised us, though, was the speed. Most bespoke tailoring takes months, but here, they turn around a full suit in just two weeks.

They even take last-minute requests, which almost sounds too good to be true for a tailor at this level.

However, not everything ran as smoothly as their pitch. Some clients we spoke with mentioned that the staff could be disorganised, which isn’t ideal when you’re trusting someone with a suit that’s supposed to fit perfectly.

Pros

  • Uses 3D body scanning
  • Suits crafted in an Italian atelier
  • Fast turnaround
  • Handles last-minute requests

Cons

  • Disorganised staff

Accommodates last-minute suit requests with efficiency

“Lloyd at Tailor Made helped me out a ton when I needed a suit on short-notice for my wedding. I procrastinated until it was only 6 or 7 weeks away, but Lloyd was able to get me measured, help me select the right materials for the suit, and adjust it exactly to my preference. I really appreciate his help so I could look my best on the day, and the personal little touches he suggested like embroidering my wedding day on the inside of the jacket. Thanks so much!”

Simplifies the suit-making process with expert guidance

“Highly recommend! I was told to contact Tailor Made London by a friend who’d previously used them. I contacted them requiring a suit for my wedding and they made the process simple and easy, they advised me on materials I may prefer for a winter wedding and designed the suit perfectly. The fitting was amazing also I couldn’t have asked for a better suit to wear. Tailor Made London… thank you!”

LQ Tailoring has been a go-to in Soho since 2005. After checking them out ourselves, we see why.

They handle everything from bespoke suits to dress alterations. Their approach is practical rather than flashy. Unlike some tailors who focus solely on men’s tailoring, they give equal care to dresses, shirts, and trousers.

Whether someone needs a full custom suit or just a quick tweak, LQ Tailoring covers a lot of ground.

One thing we noticed right away is how efficient they work. Same-day alterations are a real option here, not just something they say to get people in the door.

We also liked that they offer home and workplace visits, making things easier for anyone too busy to swing by.

The fact that they keep their pricing reasonable while offering that kind of convenience is not something we see often.

However, we heard from a few clients who had one significant complaint – some hem and sleeve alterations came back shorter than anticipated.

Pros

  • Over 10 Years of experience
  • Handles bespoke suits and dress alterations
  • Offers same-day alterations
  • Provides home and workplace visits
  • Reasonable pricing

Cons

  • Alteration accuracy issues

Delivers same-day alterations with impressive speed

“Needed jeans turning up and the levis store’s wait time was 4 weeks, so I googled local tailors and this one had the best reviews. Can confirm excellent service, I asked if they could do same day and the jeans were done in 30 minutes and cost £20! Changing rooms available. Really friendly people, thanks so much will absolutely come back!”

Guarantees satisfaction with impeccable craftsmanship

“I recently had the pleasure of meeting Fareed and Sam for a tailored suit and couldn’t be more impressed. They ensured I was comfortable and attended to all my needs with exceptional service. They accommodated my tight schedule, allowing me to pick up my suit quickly. The quality of the tailoring is outstanding. I am thoroughly satisfied and will return for future needs. The location is also convenient for those working in the City. Highly recommended!”

4. Francesco Tailor

Established in 2020, Francesco Tailor is a new player in the world of bespoke tailoring. But after checking them out ourselves, we can see why they’re already making a name in the industry.

This boutique tailoring service is run by Francesco himself, who clearly knows his craft. Whether it’s a full suit or a quick alteration, everything we saw was handled with a sharp eye for detail.

One thing that stood out to us was the personal touch. Francesco takes the time to work with clients directly, making sure every request is met with care.

The pricing is also surprisingly reasonable for the quality of work. We also heard plenty of praise about how fast he delivers. Last-minute requests aren’t a problem either, which isn’t something many tailors can promise without cutting corners.

But unlike the other tailors we’ve reviewed, Francesco Tailor doesn’t have a website, which made getting information a little trickier. In a time where most businesses make it easy to book or browse services online, this felt like a bit of a setback.

Pros

  • Owner handles every project
  • Precise craftsmanship
  • Fair pricing
  • Fast turnaround

Cons

  • Lack of online presence

Accommodates tailoring needs with genuine care

“Francesco was recommended by a very reputable top end suit company to seek assistance from Francesco for some tailoring I needed for a jumper and suit jacket. I went to see Francesco and I was pleasantly surprised at the warmth and professional service he provided. He was very accommodating and could not do enough to assist and help. He made sure that when I left, I was fully satisfied with the garments adjusted. Great guy, wonderful service and you have guessed great work.”

Completes work efficiently without delays

“The service here is always brilliant throughout. Francesco is always very friendly and polite. He is adept at his craft. Francesco has now altered many of my clothes and they are always done to perfection and completed in a timely fashion. He also presses the clothes before collection for a beautiful finishing touch – every item looks 10/10. Thank you, Francesco!”

Fielding & Nicholson Tailoring has been part of the Mayfair scene since 2006, just a short walk from Savile Row.

When we stopped by their showroom, the setting felt just as tailored as their suits. They offered drinks and thousands of fabrics to browse.

One thing we noticed right away was how much thought goes into their process. Before taking a single measurement, they go through a full wardrobe analysis. This process ensures each piece fits into a client’s lifestyle.

That kind of attention to detail is rare, and it makes the five-year guarantee even more valuable. This covers wear and tear, as well as adjustments for weight fluctuations.

However, some clients mentioned they experienced a delayed turnaround. This tends to happen more often during the busy months of June and December.

Pros

  • Established Mayfair tailor
  • Offers five-year guarantee
  • Free adjustments

Cons

  • Delayed turnaround

Guides clients effortlessly through the bespoke process

“I had a truly amazing experience at their store just off of Savile Row where I met with Ian and was given five star treatment. From start to finish the process was effortless and actually very educational for me to understand how much goes into a suit. There were thousands of fabrics and lots of customisations to choose from but nothing felt overwhelming. I literally got the bespoke suit of my dreams and feel very fortunate to have been recommended Fielding & Nicholson Tailors by a trusted friend. Now I am the one doing the recommending and for good reason! Big thanks to Ian and the team. I will see you again soon for my wedding suit come April time! Look forward to it.”

Provides outstanding service with a personal touch

“Absolutely one of the best. I have a few tailored suits from back home but having been in London for some years and a bit of the covid-19 diet later, time for something new that fits… Ian and his team, and Alex in particular, did an amazing job of taking care of me and they had to honour of working on my wedding suit as well. Job well done. I cannot tell you how great both my morning suit and business suits look. Just stunning! The bride had to share many compliments with me; yet she still received many more.”
