Style up your space with the best furniture stores in London

Ever stared at an empty living room and thought, “Where do I even start?” Yeah, same.

London’s a city of endless possibilities, but when it comes to furniture shopping, it can feel like a chaotic mix of overpriced showrooms, IKEA assembly nightmares, and second-hand gems that may or may not collapse the moment you sit down.

We’ve been through the struggle – scrolling through endless online listings, trekking across the city to test out sofas that somehow all feel the same, and debating if a certain chair is a wise life investment (it’s not, but I still think about it). The good news? we’ve cracked the code.

We rounded up the best furniture stores in London. These spots deliver on style, quality, and (sometimes) price tags that won’t make you question your financial choices.

How We Chose

  • Quality of Furniture – We examined the materials, craftsmanship, and durability of the pieces offered by each store, looking at customer feedback, in-store inspections, and available product warranties to ensure long-term value.
  • Range of Styles – London has a diverse design scene, so we prioritised stores that cater to various aesthetics, from contemporary and minimalist to vintage and bespoke.
  • Customer Experience – We looked into the shopping experience, testing customer service responsiveness, browsing in-store when possible, and checking various reviews.
  • Sustainability and Ethics – With a growing demand for eco-friendly and ethically sourced furniture, we considered stores that use sustainable materials, responsible manufacturing, and fair trade practices.

1. FCI London

fci-london

Location: Rays House, N Circular Rd.

Contact: +44 20 8153 1235

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Sunday – 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Website

We’ve seen a lot of furniture stores, but FCI London is on another level. What started as a small, family-run shop in 1985 has grown into a massive 30,000 sq ft contemporary furniture hub with over 700 exclusive European brands.

If you’re into sleek, high-end design, this place is a goldmine.

What we really like is that they don’t just sell furniture – they help you design your space, too. Their team (actual pros, not just salespeople) offers interior design consultations, project management, and 3D visualisations so you can see how everything will look before committing.

We also love how easy their website makes it to browse, book showroom visits, and even do virtual consultations.

However, we’ve noticed a few complaints about delayed deliveries, so double-check the timelines if you’re in a rush.

That aside, we think FCI is a top pick for modern furniture lovers who want expert guidance.

Pros

  • Massive 30,000 sq ft showroom
  • 700+ exclusive European brands
  • 3D visualisations before purchase
  • Easy online browsing and booking

Cons

  • Reports of delayed deliveries

Handles custom orders with precision

“FCI is my go store for high quality designer furniture as they’ve consistently provided me with an excellent level of service. I’ve now purchased items from them three times, and on each occasion FCI were very prompt and efficient in supplying me with a quotation, quickly answering all my questions and staying in touch with me through to delivery. Aziz did a super job handling my most recent purchase from start to finish.  It was a special custom order that was delivered today on time, in perfect condition and exactly to the specification I wanted. Perfect!”

Designs pieces immaculately with attention to detail

“Superb service all round from FCI London! From the initial meeting with Cristina at the FCI London showroom the service I received was fantastic. I was shown appropriate items for my needs as well as given great help with how and where I could place them within my property. Cristina helped me design my pieces immaculately, and nothing was too much trouble! Delivery was in line with initial expectations and communication throughout the process was regular. The delivery teams were efficient and called before arrival, then ensuring I was happy with placement and took all packaging away. A really great experience from start to finish, I will certainly be using FCI London again! Thanks so much.”

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Saturday – 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Sunday – 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Website

We love a furniture store with history, and Heal’s has plenty of it. Since 1810, it’s gone from a feather-dressing business to one of London’s top spots for contemporary home furnishings.

But for us, it’s not just about the furniture – the store itself is a design icon. We can’t help but admire the stunning 1919 Cecil Brewer spiral staircase, which is easily one of the most photographed staircases in London.

When it comes to selection, we’re pretty impressed. Heal’s offers everything from sleek modern sofas and timeless bedroom pieces to designer lighting and unique home accessories.

We like that they mix well-known designers with fresh, up-and-coming talent, so there’s always something interesting to discover.

And we have to mention their website – it’s a breeze to browse, packed with design inspiration, and even has a live chat if we need quick advice on a product.

However, we’ve come across some reports of deliveries arriving with missing items, so we’d recommend checking everything as soon as it arrives.

Pros

  • Over 200 years of history
  • Iconic Cecil Brewer spiral staircase
  • Wide range of contemporary furniture
  • Stylish home accessories and lighting
  • Easy-to-browse website with live chat

Cons

  • A few reports of missing items in deliveries

Features an impressive range of Danish furniture

“A wonderful selection of furniture from around the world are to be found across all floors in this fabulous shop. I went there specifically to find a Knoll diamond chair and I wasn’t disappointed with a couple on display. The Eames selection was also very good as was the range of Danish furniture. The rug room is also worth a visit. One particular example made in Spain caught my eye. See pic. To sum up. If your looking for furniture in London then a visit to Heals is a must. You can also get a coffee in the cafe.”

Offers a diverse range of furniture and lighting for all budgets

“If you’re looking for inspiration to do up your house, or need to buy any furniture or lighting, then this is the world famous place to do it. So much history to Heal’s – it’s a pleasure to browse and get inspired here. While some of the items are so expensive you might only dream of owning them, there’s also a large selection of items at more affordable price points on the ground floor, and a Habitat on the ground floor and in the basement which sells many great options at more affordable prices.”

Their catalogue is stacked with everything from dining chairs and display cabinets to wardrobes and beds. Honestly, if it belongs in a home, they probably have it.

What really caught our attention, though, is their bespoke furniture service. We love that they let customers design their own standout pieces, making sure everything fits their style and space perfectly.

Plus, with products spanning different price ranges, they make quality furniture more accessible no matter the budget.

And let’s talk about their perks – 0% APR financing for up to 24 months? We honestly think that’s a game-changer for anyone looking to spread out the cost without extra fees. Free home delivery across the UK? Even better.

The only catch? Their popularity means the store can get pretty busy, so if you’re planning to visit, make sure to set aside some time.

  • Bespoke furniture service for custom pieces
  • Options for all budgets
  • 0% APR financing for up to 24 months

Leaves spaces spotless with thorough cleanup

“I recently purchased from Royal furniture, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! Their showroom is a dream come true – spacious, beautifully designed, and includes private areas where you can test out the mattresses at your leisure. The customer service in the showroom was simply awesome; the staff and Joel was knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly helpful without being pushy. Delivery was precisely on time, a rarity these days! They even called an hour in advance to ensure I was ready. When the new beds arrived, the delivery team was professional and efficient. They not only set up the new beds but also removed the old ones. Plus, they cleaned up all the rubbish, leaving the space spotless. It’s rare to find such attention to detail and customer care. Royal Furniture has earned a loyal customer in me. Highly recommend.”

We love a service that makes life easier, and QUICKLI does just that – while keeping furniture out of landfills.

Selling furniture? We like how QUICKLI keeps it hassle-free. Just upload some photos, get an instant valuation, and they’ll pick up your items as soon as the next day if you’re in London or nearby.

We’re talking a turnaround time of just 2 to 48 hours, which is pretty impressive.

Buying is just as smooth. Their website is easy to browse, making it simple to snag quality pre-owned furniture from the comfort of your home.

And with free London delivery on all items, we don’t have to stress about extra fees.

Plus, they’re available 24/7, so we can buy or sell whenever it suits us.

However, we’ve seen a few reports of them being unresponsive to emails. We’d recommend trying different contact methods if you need to reach them.

  • 2 to 48-hour turnaround time
  • Smooth online shopping experience

“I would have given them 10 stars if I could! Already bought 3 pieces of furniture through them in the course of the past year and I must say they are fantastic! Operating hours:

  • Monday to Saturday – 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Website

Since 1964, this store has been setting the bar for contemporary furniture. We have to give them credit for introducing big names like Marcel Breuer, Mies van der Rohe, and Le Corbusier to the UK.

Walking into their five-story showroom, we can’t help but feel like we’re stepping into a designer’s dream. We were surrounded by sleek furniture, statement lighting, and home accessories that make us want to redo our entire space.

What really makes them stand is their Aram Gallery. We love that they’re not just about selling furniture – they’re about pushing the boundaries of design.

This space is dedicated to experimental and emerging designers. Every time we visit, we find something unexpected and inspiring. It’s the kind of place that reminds us why we love good design in the first place.

We also like that we don’t have to trek to the showroom every time we want to browse—their online store makes it easy to shop from home.

However, we have heard a few complaints about their customer service being less than friendly. If we ever run into an issue, we’d probably brace ourselves for a little patience.

Pros

  • Leading contemporary furniture store since 1964
  • Introduced major designers to the UK
  • Expansive five-story showroom
  • Features the Aram Gallery
  • Easy online shopping

Cons

  • A few reports of unfriendly customer service

Champions both legendary and emerging designers

“This store is second to none and is a fusion of showroom gallery and museum. The showroom exhibits and sells at the best prices including online prices timeless iconic classics from Le Corbusier Knoll Eileen Gray (worldwide licence holder) Zanotta Cassina Eames as well as showcasing and  championing the works of upcoming designers and architects. The staff always offer the best possible price often better prices than online offers. The right balance has been struck whereby the staff allow you to browse at your leisure without pressuring you as soon as you enter. If you appreciate  design want to select from the largest selection of iconic timeless furniture mirrors rugs sofas lighting coffee tables side tables beds armchairs dining tables and more at the best prices and highest degree of courtesy and professionalism then the only  store is Aram celebrating 60 years of  promoting and supplying iconic timeless furniture from the giants of design and architecture.”

Offers customisable options with careful order processing

“The delivery service they use (Atlas of London) is top notch; very impressed at how expertly and efficiently they maneuvered my sofa module through a narrow hallway. Do keep in mind that if ordering made-to-order Italian (or elsewhere in the region) furniture shortly before August, your delivery time might be a month or so longer than usual! I was ordering an Arflex Strips module that has a large number of configuration options, and the module initially was input wrong (armrest on wrong side). This is easy to catch, as long as you make sure to double-check all looks good at checkout! The staff is great at not making you feel rushed.”
