How much do hair salons charge in London?

Most hair salons in London charge an average of £135 for a cut and finish. However, your final cost may change depending on the level of the stylist and the type of service you’ll get.

How we chose

  • Stylist experience & expertise – We prioritised salons with stylists who possess extensive experience and training to ensure that your hair is in the hands of skilled professionals who can execute your desired look flawlessly.
  • Range of services offered – We looked for salons that provide a comprehensive range of services, including colouring, styling, treatments, and even extensions.
  • Customer reviews & reputation – We looked for salons with consistently positive feedback regarding their stylists’ skills, the quality of their services, and the ambience of their salons.
  • Product selection and quality – We favoured those who prioritise high-quality, ethically sourced, and sustainable products that promote hair health and well-being.
  • Price and value – We evaluated the pricing structure of each salon to ensure it aligns with the quality of services provided.

Website

Larry King has built a fantastic clientele, including celebrities like David Gandy, Niall Horan, and Pixie Lott. But it’s not just the celebs who love this place. Our local friends and neighbours have been raving about their experiences here too.

What really sets them apart is the high-profile collaborations with brands like Dyson, Redken, and Jaguar Land Rover. These partnerships bring a cool factor and a touch of prestige that makes the salon stand out in our local scene.

Their award-winning goodies also make them a household name. We especially love the liquid airbrush conditioner and the flyaway kit. These products cater to various hair needs and are available in various luxury stores like Harrods and Harvey Nichols.

Now for their pricing, a cut & finish costs an average of £160 for women, while it’s £100 for men. However, they offer promotions like a 10% discount on products for first-time clients. Honestly, it’s a steal when you see what they can do!

Pros

  • High profile collaborations
  • Range of products
  • Discount for first-time clients

Cons

  • Premium pricing

Has exceptional colouring and clear guidance

“I have my hair coloured here by Sophia (Fie). She is incredible at what she does, not only because she’s excellent at her job but because she listens and communicates clearly, meaning she can help me achieve the look I’d like, but she can push back when she knows it won’t work. An invaluable skill. Highly recommended.”

Improves hair health and achieves the perfect blonde colour

“Since moving to London 6 years ago I’ve been to countless blonde colourists and I have to say Karolina is the absolute best in London (and possibly the UK)!!! I met Karolina at a previous salon and followed her to Larry King because she is the only colourist who has been able to achieve my perfect blonde whilst also somehow improving the health of my hair! I came to her with brassy, dry, tired hair and she has worked her magic to get it to a clean, healthy blonde! Honestly I would follow her anywhere! She is an expert who always takes the time to listen and give advice and she honestly exceeds my expectations every single time! Plus she is a beautiful, fun, and engaging colourist to be around and has the highest level of professionalism! I get so many compliments after she has done my hair and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone – blonde, brunette, redhead!!!! You will not find anyone better in London!”

2. Hershesons

Location: Multiple locations in London (Belgravia, Fitzrovia & Selfridges London)

Contact: [email protected]

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Saturday – 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  • Sunday – 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Website

Co-founded by Luke Hersheson and his father, Daniel, Hershesons is a spacious 5000-square-foot salon with an open-plan design that offers cosy seating, lush plants, and plenty of natural light.

The interesting thing is that going here feels like going to a trendy social space and not your typical hair salon.

The ambience is just the start though. Here, you can get your nails done by DryBy, enjoy facials from Sunday Riley, and have your brows shaped by Suman Brows. We especially love the massage chairs for hair washes and the VIP room for an experience that makes you feel like royalty.

Although their rates may be higher compared to others (cut & finish cost £415 for women, while it’s £290 for men) we do think they make up for it through their “Hair Miles” program.

For every £1 you spend, you earn 1 Hair Mile. You can save these up and redeem them for rewards. For example, 2000 Hair Miles can be exchanged for a £50 voucher.

Pros

  • Trendy social vibe
  • Range of services
  • Hair miles program

Cons

  • Premium pricing
  • A few reports of scheduling issues

Delivers a wonderful experience that results in a haircut you’ll love

“What a wonderful place…. My first time and I received such a warm welcome from my hair stylist Adrian. I was a bit nervous as I was contemplating a substantial cut, Adrian put me at ease at once. Had such an enjoyable time and absolutely love my new haircut. So happy I put my trust in Adrian, took his advice and went shorter. I look and feel so much brighter. Can’t wait to return. Thank you so much Adrian.”

A spur-of-the-moment visit to this salon leads to a fantastic new look

“Today, on the spur of the moment, I visited the Fitzrovia salon to see if I could get an appointment for a haircut.  Dale was available and I explained I wanted something new, modern, in a cut I could manage at home.  After a lengthy discussion of ideas, hair suitability and styles, Dale proceeded and I was not disappointed with the results.  I am extremely happy with the cut and will definitely return.  I left looking and feeling great.  In addition, the young woman who washed my hair was most attentive and the reception staff efficient and very helpful.  All round, a very pleasing experience.”

Arkive is an absolute gem. This place is all about holistic hair care – or “headcare”, as founder Adam Reed calls it.

By that, he’s talking about their personalised approach. Their stylists offer detailed consultations to tailor techniques and treatments to your needs. Prices for their bespoke services are around  £240 for colouring and £188 for cuts and finishes.

They also have their own proprietary product line called Arkive Headcare. This line includes shampoos, conditioners, scalp scrubs, and styling products. The shampoos and conditioners were the standouts for us.

Plus, they’re vegan, cruelty-free, and packaged in recycled materials, which we know eco-conscious readers will appreciate!

Makes your hair strong and healthy

“I came in to see Luke and he saved my self coloured orange hair! I left feeling so much more confident in myself and absolutely adore both the colour and the cut he gave me, he made me lovely and blonde and left my hair feeling super strong and healthy after using such lovely products on it. I’ve had endless complements on my hair since leaving the salon and can safely say I will always be coming back to see Luke for any future appointments.”

A salon that has a lovely atmosphere and friendly team

“I have never been to a Salon so full of happy clients. Honestly every client was leaving over the moon with their colour and cut.  Such a lovely atmosphere as well.  All the team were so kind and friendly, unlike any salon I have ever been too.  Ryan was incredible.  My hair is in bad condition, I have no doubt he will get it right.  Today it looks amazing.  The best for years.  I actually got what I asked for from a hairdresser even though he could not do exactly what he wanted because of the condition.  And the best thing was I left feeling like I had in no way been ripped off.  Just paying a slight premium for amazing hair.  After having the same hairdresser for 15 years it was a huge jump for me… I have made it now and so glad I did.  Thank you  xx.”

Provides impeccable service and superb quality

“I wish they gave the option to click on more than 5 stars… Danilo is a true magician! The salon is impeccable, everyone is friendly and warm, yet professional and the quality is just superb. As an Italian living in London, I used to miss my hair stylist in Milan and would literally fly back every now and then to make sure I had a great cut/colour/treatments… but since meeting Danilo and his team 10 years ago, my dreams have come true and I’ve never wanted to go anywhere else! Thank you Danilo!”

Francesca Lanza, Google Review

Friendly and professional service with lasting results

“Whether it’s a cut, colour or blow dry (or all three!), Danilo and Valeria are the BEST! My hair has never looked so good. Very natural colour – classy blonde highlights – bespoke colour consultation.  They are professional, friendly and really, really know what they’re doing.  All the staff are great too.   Not cheap but given my blow dry lasts for at least 10 days, it’s money well spent.”

Ensures that your hair colour looks natural and healthy

“Love coming here. Diana is extremely experienced with colour. I trust her with any suggestion she makes for my hair. Diana is so patient every time when she painstakingly does my colour making sure it looks as natural as possible and still considering the health of my hair (very fine but a lot of it). As a person, she’s generous and kind and I always love catching up. Hence why I followed her when she came to Gielly Green over a year ago!”

Went in today for a blow-dry by Wagner…. So gentle and really a beautiful technique. Highly recommend!”
