How we picked

  • Hygiene and safety – Safety is paramount when it comes to body piercings. We visited each studio personally to assess their commitment to cleanliness, sterilisation, and adherence to health guidelines.
  • Expertise and certification – Our selection process prioritised studios with experienced and certified piercers. Expertise in various piercing styles, deep understanding of anatomy, and the ability to provide informed advice to clients.
  • Creativity – We chose studios that pushed the boundaries of body art and offered creative and innovative piercing options.
  • Affordability – While quality and safety were paramount, we also looked for studios that provided value for money and transparent pricing without compromising on safety or quality.

Pros

  • Highly skilled artists
  • Clean facilities
  • Consistent quality

Cons

  • Pricing
  • Aftercare

Underground Tattoo & Piercing Co offers services that are nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a welcoming and professional atmosphere.

That’s probably to be expected: the piercers here apparently have over 20 years of combined experience. They also offer a wide range of piercings like earlobe, nipple, navel, dermal or genital piercing.

The tattoo artists we met at the studio are equally impressive. Well-versed in various styles, they seemed to focus on personalised designs that meet the individual preferences and expectations of their clients.

However, the journey here isn’t without its bumps. While their artistic work is exceptional, the studio’s approach to pricing and aftercare guidance is an area where the shine dulled a bit. A few customers may feel the pinch of pricing, since they do lean towards the higher end.

Mind that it’s a justifiable lean, in our experience, but your budget may disagree.

Pierce Me London boasts a team of skilled and experienced piercers who are dedicated to providing top-notch services. From traditional earlobe piercings to intricate body modifications, we think their expertise ensures a safe and professional piercing experience.

Situated in the bustling Covent Garden area, Pierce Me London offers easy access via nearby tube stations such as Leicester Square and Covent Garden.

They have received multiple awards over the last few years, which shows just how credible they are. The most recent award they got was “Body Piercing Specialists of the Year” in England, making this the consecutive third year they were given this distinction by “Prestige Awards” for 2024/2025.

Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor exploring the vibrant streets of London, we find that this centrally located studio is readily accessible.

Pierce Me London operates seven days a week for piercings and offers flexible appointment scheduling to accommodate your needs. While walk-ins are welcome, booking an appointment in advance is recommended to ensure prompt service.

We’ve only heard of the best things about them. We highly recommend!

Cons

  • Jewellery fallout
  • Slightly weak aftercare

Launched in 2006, Nemesis Tattoo & Body Piercing Studio has made a name for itself by offering top-notch services and having a customer-friendly atmosphere.

Aside from being known for their custom tattoos, they are also well-known for their range of custom piercings which makes them a go-to spot for those looking to add some unique body art.

Most of their clients whom we interviewed described their experiences as enjoyable and highlighted the helpfulness of the booking staff and their incredible artists. Whether it’s a piercing or a custom tattoo, their team seems to have a reputation for going the extra mile.

Plus, the welcoming atmosphere, combined with the dedication of artists like Zoltan, Tomi, and David, contributes to a memorable and satisfying visit.

However, it’s worth noting that we also found customers who had less favourable experiences. There were mentions of services feeling rushed and issues with piercings such as jewellery falling out shortly after the procedures.

Some first-timers also pointed out a lack of detailed aftercare instructions and felt that the process could be more newcomer-friendly.

Cons

  • Poor website quality
  • Poor social media presence

Tattoogem Tattoo & Piercing Studio in London is a distinguished establishment that started in 1999. Situated just two minutes from Ealing Broadway train station, this studio appears to be a hub for artists passionate about their craft.

Among other things, we liked that it employs state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge materials. With a team of professional artists, Tattoogem specialises in custom designs and tattoos.

This place also stands out for its expertise in cover-ups, refreshing older tattoos, and even working on challenging projects like tattooing over scars, skin blemishes or discolourations.

However, the studio does not offer online booking, requiring everyone to call for appointments. Bit of an oversight in this day and age, we think! Also, given the high praise and popularity of artists like Paul, mind that securing an appointment might require planning.

Pros

  • Online booking
  • Wide range of services
  • Latest equipment and techniques

Cons

  • Long wait times

Supreme Karma came to our attention for its artistic finesse and innovative approach. The studio offers custom design that varies from intricate unique pieces to full-blown dramatic sleeves. Their artists are known for their piercings, portraits, photo-realism and black and grey work.

Something nice and convenient first: their doors are open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM on weekdays and even on weekends. This aligns with various schedules, which makes the shop accessible to everyone.

Another of the great things about this studio is that they have an online booking system and chat feature. This provides convenient options for inquiries and appointments, although responses may take some time.

Also, they have a clear and detailed pricing structure on their website for various piercings. Expect to see a clear piercing price list including lobes, helix, surface, dermal, labret, septum, eyebrow and more – good when you’re still shopping around.

Unfortunately, they’re so popular that waits take ages. Definitely try to book an appointment!

Maria Tash is known for its exceptional fine jewellery and luxury piercing experiences. For instance, their Diamond Scalloped Set Nostril Screw is a prime example of their luxurious pierced jewellery design.

If you want fine jewellery to go with your piercing experience, this is probably the first place to go. The customers we interviewed also lauded their customer service experience, with many appreciating the brand’s ability to cater to a wide range of ages and genders.

However, it’s worth noting that some also pointed out the size of the products as a concern, despite the dimensions being listed in the product descriptions.

This is why Maria Tash encourages everyone to try their virtual try-on feature, which lets you try whatever jewellery they have so you can be sure whether you like a certain piece or not.

On top of this, the premium nature of their products and services means that you should be prepared for a higher cost.

FAQs about piercing studios in London

How old do you have to be to get a piercing in London?

There isn’t a legal age for getting piercings in London. However, many piercing studios have their age policies, often requiring parental consent for minors – especially those under 16. For more intimate piercings, studios might also require clients to be 18 or older.

Can you bring your own jewellery for the piercing?

Sometimes. But most professional studios prefer using their jewellery for the initial piercing to ensure it’s of the appropriate material, size, and sterility. You can discuss jewellery options with your piercer before the procedure.

How long does it take for a piercing to heal?

Healing times vary depending on the type of piercing and your body’s healing process. Earlobe piercings may take 6 to 8 weeks, while cartilage piercing can take anywhere from 4 months to a year.

Can you consume alcohol before or after getting a piercing?

No. It’s not recommended to consume alcohol before getting a piercing as it can increase bleeding. It’s also advisable to avoid alcohol after getting pierced to ensure optimal healing.

Should you let a professional do your ear piercing?

Yes. It’s highly recommended to have your ears pierced by a professional to ensure that it’s accurately and hygienically done. They also provide appropriate, high-quality jewellery and offer crucial aftercare advice.
