How much do Pilates classes cost in London?
The cost of Pilates classes in London ranges from £20 to £70 per session. Most Pilates studios offer packages and group options at discounted rates.
How we chose
- Quality of Instruction: We evaluated the experience, certifications, and teaching style of the instructors. In particular, we looked into those that offer clear guidance and proper form correction.
- Class Variety and Scheduling: We looked into how many different types of Pilates classes were offered, including mat, reformer, and specialty options (e.g., prenatal classes). Additionally, we considered how flexible the class schedules were for different lifestyles.
- Studio Atmosphere: We visited studios in person, paying close attention to how welcoming, calming, and well-maintained each space was.
- Equipment Quality: We assessed the type and condition of equipment at each studio, especially reformer machines and props. High-quality equipment and well-maintained gear were a priority.
- Pricing and Membership Options: We compared prices for drop-in classes, class packs, and monthly memberships. We considered both affordability and value for money based on the quality of the offerings.

The space in Pilates HQ is what drew us in. Located in a light-filled studio with skylights and its own rooftop garden, the space offers a tranquil zone that feels worlds away from the city’s noise.
Apart from the location, we also liked their classes. The company offers a combination of traditional Pilates and resistance training. According to the clients, this approach helped them become more mobile within just a few sessions.
One of their best offerings is the 4-week intensive programme, which includes 12 classes for just £156 (which rounds to only £13 per class). Clients can even refer a friend to earn two free classes, which we find valuable for regulars.
However, we did note some inconsistencies in the instructions. While some teachers were excellent, a few clients noted that others were disengaged, with minimal corrections. This is not a recurring experience, though, so these seem to be isolated cases.
Makes sessions fun
“I joined Pilates HQ in April as I needed a change in my workout schedule and I was instantly hooked on these classes. Doing Tiffany, Christiana and Vilmas classes every week has made a real difference to my confidence and has really changed my body, I’m hooked :). Thank you to the teachers who have such patience and push you hard while it still being fun <3”

Better than most
“I’ve tried a few pilates studios in central London and this has been the best so far with excellent instructors. It might come across as no frills but it’s got a toilet and separate shower. The classes are well lit. The instructors actually instruct and check my form. This is better than a lot of other places that cost a lot more because it teaches well. I don’t need a nice smelling studio with expensive shampoos. This is probably the best value studio in all of London. I’ve tried about 10 now.”

2. New York Pilates

Location: Unit 2, The Linen House, 253 Kilburn Ln

Opening Hours: Monday, Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM | Tuesday, Thursday: 8:00 AM – 8:30 PM | Friday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Saturday: 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM | Sunday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Website
New York Pilates has a reputation as the Centre of Excellence for Authentic Classical Pilates, and it’s clear why. Many of the instructors are actually trained under Romana Kryzanowska, who is a direct protégée of Joseph Pilates himself (the inventor of Pilates).
We found that the studio only uses genuine Gratz equipment, a major plus for those who prefer classical Pilates. These equipment pieces are built to the exact specifications recommended by Joseph Pilates, which target optimal resistance and alignment support.
The variety of classes offered was another highlight – to name a few, they offer PowerSpring classes, mat classes, and Gyrotonic sessions. There are also packages for group classes at reduced rates, which we find helpful for groups of friends that enjoy privacy.
Booking online may just be a bit of a struggle since there’s a signup and log in process, but beyond this, everything else met our standards.
Highly professional
“I have been taught by several of the instructors here over the years, mainly one-to-one but also some small group work. The instructors are highly professional, attend to my individual needs, and have supported me through various health problems which have been ameliorated by Pilates. I strongly recommend NY Pilates. I would also advise against less orthodox “Pilates” delivered by less well trained teachers.”

Makes you feel stronger
“I’ve been doing pilates at New York Pilates for many years. Their instructors are top of the range . I’m confident enough to say this as I’ve been doing Pilates for thirty years. Pilates is a great sport that is accessible and without you noticing makes you strong and lithe, it’s also outstanding for back pain. After a class I feel taller, lighter, and stronger every time!”

3. Pilates Vita London

Location: 2nd Floor, 109 Gloucester Rd, South Kensington

Opening Hours: Monday – Saturday: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM | Sunday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Website
We find Pilates Vita to be a solid choice for those who value premium and personalized Pilates experiences. This boutique studio focuses exclusively on private and small sessions, so the level of tailored care is top-notch.
With over 20 years of expertise that’s rooted in the original contrology method by Joseph Pilates, the instructors are highly technical. This makes them particularly helpful for pre- and post-natal sessions, as well as rehab-focused sessions.
The studio itself is pristine, with top-of-the-line equipment such as reformers, towers, and wunda chais. Amenities are model but thoughtful, including a bathroom with a changing area, tea, and fresh water.
Another great thing to note is that new clients receive 30% off in their first private class, which adds value to what is otherwise a premium-priced equipment.
One drawback is that they’re relatively more expensive than other options. However, considering the level of personalization and quality of instruction, we find that they’re worth the money.
Amazing and hands-on
“Pilates Vita is a fantastic studio that offers Pilates lessons based on classical Pilates. Not many places do any more! I was lucky enough to have sessions with Patricia the owner while I was in town for work. She was amazing and understood how to tailor the workouts to my body. She also provided a few additional exercises that I can do when I return home. I definitely recommend setting up a private lesson!”

Exceptional Pilates sessions
“Pilates Vita is my favourite place for Pilates, and Suelen is by far the best instructor I’ve ever had. Her techniques, knowledge and equipment are truly exceptional. From the very first session, Suelen took the time to understand my specific needs and goals. Her unique approach and enthusiastic guidance have made a huge difference for me, making every session with her incredible.”

4. Core Kensington

Location: Bridgeman House, 375 Kensington High St
Contact: +44 20 7854 1934
Opening Hours: Monday – Thursday: 6:30 AM – 9:00 PM | Friday: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM | Saturday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM | Sunday: 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Website
Core Kensington has four locations across West London. This makes them an accessible choice for clients, as dropping in at any location is convenient and hassle-free.
We liked that the palace offers both group reformer classes and personal training sessions. The group classes are capped at just 7 participants, which we find favorable as clients can get more personalized attention for proper correction.
Beginners may also find it cost-effective to start the journey with them, as they offer an introductory promotion of only £35 for two group classes. The rates for the classes are competitive anyway, considering they fall within the city’s average.
Those who are interested in becoming a Pilates instructor can also take STOTT Pilates certification courses here. It’s a nice offering for those who want to go from learner to teacher.
Instructor consistency may vary though, with a few clients noting that certain teachers lack clear instruction. However, these are very minor reports, so we remain confident in their services.
Great attention to detail
“Annah is a superb teacher. She seamlessly adapts any exercise to the individual’s ability and provides challenge whilst never losing sight of the level the class. Her attention to detail and her wonderful personality makes people feel supported throughout each class. Oh, and she’s super smart! Bravo Annah.”

Precise and specific
“Core Kensington is a really lovely Pilates studio – light, bright, modern and very clean. The teaching is very precise and specific to help you ensure you have the right technique before advancing; so important. Carlo gave an excellent and very refined Basics class (only basic in learning the techniques) and Everton always teaches with precision and warmth. I highly recommend this place!”

5. Pi Pilates Studio London

Location: 35 Parkgate Rd
Contact: +44 7881 754605
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM | Saturday – Sunday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Website
Founded by Holley Murray, a seasoned Pilates practitioner with over 25 years of experience, Pi offers an authentic take on Joseph Pilates’ original method.
Beyond the approach, we also liked that their space is sleek, modern, and serene.
We appreciate that their services are diverse – clients can choose from reformer classes, tower, mat classes, among others. What’s even better is that there’s an option to take them either in person or via livestream, making them ideal for busy individuals.
Their private and duet sessions are particularly appealing for beginners or those with specific rehabilitation needs, including post-natal recovery. This is because they incorporate classical apparatus and focus on personalized attention.
Additionally, they offer many flexible options such as drop-ins, memberships, and packages. That said, clients can easily choose based on what works for their lifestyle, schedule, and budget.
One downside we notice though, is that they can be a bit pushy when it comes to sales. It may be frustrating, but simply turning down offers usually seals the situation.
Knowledgeable and understanding
“I have been a client and scholar at Pi Studios for the past 6 years. Although I have practiced Pilates in Studios all over Europe the knowledge and deep understanding of the Pilates practice of Holly and her team is one of a kind. I learned so much about my body and improved my practice so much in the past 6 years. Thank you for making me strong!”

Extremely expert and professional
“I have been doing Pilates at Pi Studios since mid-2020 and am a huge fan. The atmosphere at the Studio is relaxed and not in any way intimidating. Their instructors are all extremely expert and professional while also being friendly and encouraging people who make their sessions are real pleasure for those who take part. I would recommend Pi Studios to anyone who is interested in Pilates.”
